Why Girls Skateboarding is Booming in the West Midlands - Just Ramps - Just Ramps Skatepark

Claiming the Ramps: Why the Future of Action Sports is Inclusive (and Your Invite to Girls Night!)

Extreme sports have always been about freedom. Pushing boundaries, finding your community, and simply doing something fun and healthy. You can be as sociable, or as non-sociable, as you want. Unlike team sports, a skatepark offers a completely customisable experience. You can turn up, do your own thing in your own zone, and leave whenever you like. Or, you can roll in, find your people, and socialise as much as you like.

Action sports are experiencing an incredible surge in participation from girls, women, and the LGBTQ+ community. If you’ve dropped into our skateboard classes lately, you’ve likely noticed the shift. Our Just Ramps Skateboard Classes have seen a massive wave of new girls riders signing up, learning to drop in, and supporting each other.

To celebrate this community and ensure everyone has a comfortable space to thrive, we are hosting our next Girls Night on Saturday 26th September from 8pm to 10pm!

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Just like going anywhere new for the first time, it can be intimidating and a bit daunting. If you’re new to riding, don’t know anyone or feel like everyone else knows what they’re doing, taking that first step isn’t always easy. We want everyone to feel welcome at Just Ramps, and running sessions like this is one way we can help more people get involved.

What to Expect at Girls’ Night

Whether you are an absolute beginner who has never stood on a board, an experienced rider ready to try something new, or you've only ever came to our classes, this night is built entirely for you.

A Safe, Judgment-Free Session: The park belongs entirely to women, girls, and LGBTQ+ community members for two full hours. No pressure, no intimidation.

All Wheels Welcome: Whether you skateboard, ride a scooter, BMX, or inline skate, come down and have a skate.

Community: Meet fellow local riders, share tips, and celebrate each other’s wins.

One of our skateboard coaches will be on-hand to offer advice if needed, as well as make sure everyone feels welcome the second they walk through the door.
